Using advanced X-ray technology, Italian researchers from the Institute of Crystallography determined that the linen's age is consistent with the first century. This new evidence has led to AI-generated images depicting what Jesus might have looked like based on the Shroud's impressions, showing a man with a beard, long hair, and crucifixion wounds. The findings reignite debates over the Shroud's authenticity, as earlier carbon dating from the 1980s had placed its origin between 1260 and 1390 AD. The research indicates previous analyses might have been flawed due to contamination and environmental factors affecting the cloth's preservation.
