Lavrov Calls for Revival of Russia-India-China Talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called for reviving the Russia-India-China (RIC) trilateral grouping, citing recent improvements in India-China border relations as a timely opportunity. Lavrov emphasized Moscow's genuine interest in resuming RIC activities, which had stalled after the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. He accused NATO of trying to sow discord between New Delhi and Beijing, and warned about Western efforts to provoke confrontation in the Indo-Pacific region. Recent diplomatic engagements, including a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping at the BRICS Summit, have signaled a thaw in India-China relations. Despite ongoing engagement with Western powers, India has refrained from joining formal anti-China alliances. The proposed RIC revival is presented as a step toward regional stability and multipolarity in Eurasia.
