Naples, Florida Mayor Teresa Heitmann was arrested on August 28 for DUI after allegedly following a couple home, hitting their mailbox, and parking on their lawn. Witnesses reported her erratic behavior, stating, 'I think the mayor is drunk,' which prompted a 911 call. Upon police arrival, Heitmann identified herself but insisted, 'No, don’t call me mayor. I am Teresa Heitmann right now, I am not the mayor.' After completing field sobriety tests, her blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.155 and 0.169, well above Florida's legal limit of 0.08. Heitmann was released on a $500 bond the following day, and Naples City Manager Jay Boodheshwar expressed the city's sadness over the incident, assuring residents that service delivery would remain unaffected. Heitmann is currently facing one count of DUI.
