High bacteria levels have prompted the closure of numerous beaches across the United States, affecting states such as Massachusetts, Michigan, Iowa, Rhode Island, and California. Massachusetts has seen a season-high total of 88 beach closures, while 50 locations were closed just this weekend. In Michigan, eight beaches are currently closed due to similar concerns. Iowa has also reported multiple closures and advisories, including Lake Red Rock and Coralville Lake. Meanwhile, Rhode Island has reopened four beaches but closed Conimicut Point Park due to high bacteria levels. In California, 12 Los Angeles County beaches, including locations in Santa Monica and Malibu, have been deemed unsafe for swimming. Health officials across these states are conducting regular water quality tests to monitor and ensure public safety.
