New Members Elected to MLBPA Executive Subcommittee

Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal and Pittsburgh Pirates rookie Paul Skenes have been elected to the Major League Baseball Players' Association (MLBPA) executive subcommittee for two-year terms. Skubal, the 2024 American League Cy Young Award winner, joins Skenes, who was named National League Rookie of the Year just six months after his debut. Other newcomers include players from the Padres, Blue Jays, Rays, and Orioles, while incumbents Marcus Semien and Brent Suter retain their positions. The elections follow the departure of six members who completed their terms, including notable players like Francisco Lindor and Ian Happ. The MLBPA leadership was previously involved in internal disputes, including a failed attempt to oust deputy executive director Bruce Meyer. The union's annual meetings are currently taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona.
