Westport, Jersey City Chefs Named James Beard Finalists

Brian Lewis, chef and owner of The Cottage in Westport, has been nominated for the Best Chef: Northeast category in the 2025 James Beard Awards, highlighting Connecticut's vibrant culinary scene. The James Beard Foundation, celebrating its 35th anniversary, will present awards across 25 categories, with a focus on cocktail and beverage service this year. The awards are often regarded as the 'Oscars of culinary arts' and recognize exceptional talent in the culinary industry. In the Mid-Atlantic region, Dan Richer of Razza in Jersey City has been nominated for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, marking his continued recognition in the awards. Both chefs are set to be honored at a ceremony in Chicago on June 16, where winners will be announced. Other Connecticut chefs, including Michelle Greenfield of Allium Eatery, were also recognized as semifinalists earlier this year.
