Trump-Brokered Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Deal Secures Trade Route
President Donald Trump will host the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan at the White House to sign a historic peace agreement that ends four decades of hostility between the two nations. The deal includes the establishment of the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP), a new multimodal transit corridor linking mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Armenian territory, which will be developed exclusively by the United States. This corridor bypasses Russia, Iran, and China, significantly enhancing regional trade, transit, and energy flows, and is seen as a strategic win for the West. Armenia will grant the U.S. long-term development rights to the corridor, which will operate under Armenian legal jurisdiction but be managed by a U.S.-led consortium. The agreement is intended to foster economic cooperation and regional stability, with bilateral agreements also covering energy, technology, border security, infrastructure, and trade. White House officials emphasize that this initiative removes political obstacles and unlocks the commercial potential of the South Caucasus while respecting Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
