Trinidad Man Sentenced 13 Years Castle Rock Police Chase

Roy Allen Elliott-Casaus, a 33-year-old man from Trinidad, Colorado, was sentenced to 13 years in prison after a high-speed chase in Castle Rock involving a stolen vehicle. The chase, captured on dashcam and involving drone technology and FLOCK cameras, ended when an officer rammed Elliott-Casaus's vehicle head-on to stop him. Elliott-Casaus pleaded guilty to assault on a peace officer, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and vehicular eluding. At the time of the chase in January 2022, he was wanted for accessory to homicide related to a 2020 case. His 13-year sentence will be served consecutively with a separate six-year sentence from an unrelated crime in Las Animas County. Authorities emphasized that his dangerous actions endangered public safety and that the sentence serves to protect the community.
