Australian rugby star Jordan Petaia has signed a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers as part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program. The 25-year-old has transitioned from rugby union, where he earned 31 caps for the Wallabies, to pursue his NFL dream after impressive performances at a Pro Day in Florida. Petaia, who has never played football before, will work as a tight end, a role that combines elements of both offensive linemen and receivers. His signing marks him as the only member of the current IPP class to secure a contract, following a rigorous training program. Petaia declined lucrative offers from European rugby and other NRL teams to focus solely on this opportunity, hoping to replicate the success of other code-hoppers like Jordan Mailata.
