Jay-Z called out the Grammy Awards during the show on Sunday night while picking up the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, specifically referencing the fact that his wife, Beyoncé, has never won an Album of the Year honour. Beyoncé has been nominated in the category four times, in 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2023 and has lost each time. During the 2010 show, she won six Grammys overall, but Taylor Swift won the Album of the Year Award. Beyoncé holds the record for the most Grammy Awards won by any artist. Miley Cyrus also picked up two awards on the night, for Best Pop Solo Performance for her track Flowers and her first ever Grammy Award.
