Two Pedestrians Killed in Merritt Island Vehicle Crash
Two pedestrians, a man and a woman, were fatally struck by a 1991 Lincoln Town Car while crossing North Courtenay Parkway near Grove Boulevard in Merritt Island, Florida, on Sunday evening. The pedestrians were not in a marked crosswalk when they entered the path of the vehicle, which was traveling southbound in the outer lane. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Rockledge, and a 3-year-old passenger were uninjured and remained at the scene, cooperating with law enforcement. Authorities closed both directions of North Courtenay Parkway following the incident, and the investigation remains active. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
