In a separate incident, 74-year-old Leonora Lascuña was apprehended with 0.15 grams of shabu, reportedly acting as a drug runner without a prior police record. Meanwhile, in California, Joanne Segovia, a former police union executive, pleaded guilty to drug smuggling after being indicted for importing the opioid Tapentadol. Segovia received over 60 shipments of drugs from various countries, using her position to facilitate the operation. While facing a possible 20-year sentence, the nature of her charges evolved as prosecutors mistakenly identified one of the substances as fentanyl.
