India's Hockey Team Wins Asian Champions Trophy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian men's hockey team for their victory at the 2024 Asian Champions Trophy, where they defeated China 1-0 in the final. With this win, India secured its record-extending fifth title, having previously won in 2011, 2016, 2018, and 2021. Defender Jugraj Singh scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, showcasing the team's strong performance throughout the tournament. Modi praised the players' dedication and spirit, stating they have made the nation proud. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also commended the team, highlighting that seven players are from Punjab, including captain Harmanpreet Singh. Mann emphasized that this victory signifies a revival of hockey in India, marking a historic moment for the sport.
