Mick Hucknall,Lola Young Receive ASCAP London Music Awards

Mick Hucknall of Simply Red and singer-songwriter Lola Young are set to receive prestigious awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) at a ceremony in London on June 17, 2025. Hucknall will be honored with the ASCAP Golden Note Award, recognizing his 40 years of impactful songwriting and his mastery of blue-eyed soul, marking a milestone anniversary for Simply Red. Lola Young will receive the ASCAP Vanguard Award for her innovative and influential music, following her recent Rising Star recognition at the Ivors Awards. Simply Red has achieved global success with over 60 million albums sold and multiple chart-topping hits, while Lola Young's debut single "Messy" topped several charts and she continues to rise with new music and tours. ASCAP chairman Paul Williams praised both artists for their contributions and noted the significance of these awards, which have been previously given to iconic musicians such as Elton John and George Michael. The event will also celebrate other UK songwriters and composers for their achievements across music, film, and television in 2025.
