West Virginia Gov. Morrisey Launches Mobile Kitchens Across State for Obesity Fight

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey is advancing his "Make America Healthy Again" initiative by promoting healthier lifestyles through West Virginia Health Right's new mobile teaching kitchen, which travels across the state to provide nutrition education, healthy cooking demonstrations, and preventive health screenings. The mobile unit, the third established by the nonprofit alongside mobile dental and medical clinics, aims to address West Virginia's high childhood obesity rate by making health education accessible in underserved areas. Morrisey emphasizes the importance of food choices as central to health, aligning with his four pillars for the state: cleaning up food, finding purpose and health, moving the body, and rewarding healthy behaviors. Supported by a $1 million state budget allocation, the program also highlights the role of fresh, garden-grown ingredients, showcased during a demonstration at the Governor's Mansion. Governor Morrisey and First Lady Denise Morrisey are actively involved in the initiative, underscoring the government’s commitment to tackling chronic health issues linked to poor nutrition and encouraging residents to make better food choices as part of a broader public health strategy.
