Nuro Shifts to Licensing Autonomous Tech

Nuro, initially known for its unmanned delivery vehicles, is pivoting its business strategy to focus on licensing its autonomous driving technology to carmakers and mobility providers. The company will no longer manufacture its vehicles but will offer its Level 4 autonomous driving systems to both goods delivery and passenger mobility services. This shift comes after multiple rounds of layoffs and significant cash burn from its previous model. Nuro's technology, developed in collaboration with companies like Nvidia, Arm, and China’s BYD, will now also target the growing market for personally owned autonomous vehicles. This strategic change aims to extend the company's operational runway and better monetize its core technology. The move aligns with broader industry trends, including similar initiatives by companies like Cruise and Tesla.
