Darian DeVries Signs $27 Million Contract as Indiana Coach
Indiana's new head coach Darian DeVries has signed a six-year contract worth at least $27 million, with an annual average salary of $4.5 million, placing him among the top earners in the Big Ten. His base salary will be $550,000, supplemented by an additional $3.7 million in his first year, increasing by $100,000 annually. The contract includes various performance bonuses, such as $125,000 for winning a Big Ten regular-season title and up to $250,000 for winning the NCAA championship. If DeVries is terminated without cause, the university is liable for 80% of his remaining salary. Additionally, Indiana will cover his $6.15 million buyout from West Virginia in a tax-neutral manner. DeVries, who previously earned $2.9 million at West Virginia, will also receive various perks including season tickets and a courtesy car.
