Shift5 Closes $75M Series C for Defense, Transportation Cybersecurity
Shift5, a cybersecurity startup focused on protecting defense and transportation systems, raised $75 million in a Series C funding round led by London-based Hedosophia with participation from notable investors including Booz Allen Ventures, Insight Partners, and Moore Strategic Ventures. The funding will be used to scale Shift5's operational technology monitoring capabilities, enhance analytics, expand into new markets, and improve proactive maintenance and mission readiness against increasing cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure, including legacy defense and transportation platforms. Founded in 2018 and led by CEO Josh Lospinoso, a former U.S. Army cyber officer, Shift5 has developed tools that help detect threats and anticipate failures in operational technology for vehicle fleets and defense systems. The company has raised a total of $180.5 million to date and counts partners such as Booz Allen, Amazon Web Services, and Boeing among its network. The Series C round also brought Shannon Clark, Palantir’s head of defense growth, onto Shift5’s board, underscoring the company’s growing momentum in aviation, rail, maritime, and ground vehicle sectors. This investment highlights increased focus and innovation within the defense tech sector to address cybersecurity vulnerabilities in aging critical infrastructure.
