Presidio Investors Acquires 100% of Hellas Verona

Texas-based private equity firm Presidio Investors has acquired 100% of Italian Serie A football club Hellas Verona from Maurizio Setti, marking another instance of American investment in Italian soccer. The acquisition, reportedly valued between 120 to 130 million euros, positions Verona as the ninth Serie A club under North American ownership. The club, which won its only league title in 1985, is currently struggling near the relegation zone. Setti, who has led the club for 13 years, will remain as Senior Advisor of Football Operations, while former AS Roma CEO Italo Zanzi will assume the role of Executive Chairman. Presidio's entry is seen as a new chapter for the club, with expectations of revitalizing its fortunes. This acquisition reflects the growing trend of international investment in European football, with Verona joining the ranks of U.S.-backed clubs like Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Roma.
