Jay Blades, the presenter of BBC's The Repair Shop, had a charge of using a mobile phone while driving dismissed in Walsall Magistrates' Court after the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence due to the unavailability of a police officer. Blades, who maintained his not guilty plea, was informed by Magistrate Neil Ravenscroft that the matter was dismissed and he was free to leave. Despite this legal win, Blades is facing separate charges of controlling or coercive behavior toward his estranged wife, for which he is scheduled to appear in Worcester Crown Court next month to enter a plea. His ex-wife, Lisa Zbozen, announced their separation on social media earlier this year, prompting an investigation by West Mercia Police. Blades has recently stepped down from several roles amid these legal challenges, including positions with the King’s Foundation and as chancellor at Buckinghamshire New University.
