Florida man arrested for posing as immigration attorney in Hialeah

Rafael Moreno, a 49-year-old man from Hialeah, Florida, was arrested after authorities discovered he had been posing as a licensed immigration attorney and scamming clients, including a woman from Alabama. The investigation began when the victim, referred by a business card purchased for $500 at a supermarket, paid Moreno for immigration services and became suspicious after he notarized documents without her husband present. Despite a permanent injunction from the Florida Supreme Court prohibiting Moreno from practicing law, he continued to operate and claimed to have 15 years of legal experience, displaying fake diplomas in his office. Police confirmed he had no legal license and, through an undercover operation, found he was offering full legal assistance for a fee. Moreno faces felony charges for practicing law without a license and misusing a notary commission.
