Stellantis Debuts 2026 Jeep Cherokee with New Hybrid Powertrain

Stellantis has unveiled the all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee, marking the brand's first hybrid model and the company's first hybrid powertrain offering in North America. The vehicle features a new 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid engine paired with a two-motor hybrid transmission, delivering 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque, with an estimated 37 mpg combined and over 500 miles of range per tank. The redesigned Cherokee embraces a rugged, boxy aesthetic inspired by Jeep's adventurous heritage and offers a spacious, tech-rich interior with advanced safety features, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and Level 2 driver assistance. The SUV is larger than its predecessor, providing 30% more cargo space and improved off-road capability with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system and Active Drive 4x4. Production will take place in Stellantis' Mexico and Michigan plants, with the vehicle expected to reach dealerships by early 2026 and starting at $36,995. Stellantis aims to revitalize Jeep's market presence and compete strongly in the midsize SUV segment despite recent financial challenges and industry headwinds.
