Man charged with DUI homicide in fatal Nelson County hit-and-run

A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County, Kentucky, where 20-year-old Amari Mays-Clark was killed, and another man, Nelson Pacheco, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The incident happened around 11 p.m. when a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 48-year-old Jason Hamilton, crossed the fog line and struck the two individuals who were near a vehicle stopped for a tire change. Hamilton fled the scene but later turned himself in to the Kentucky State Police. He is charged with vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, and assault. The westbound lanes of the parkway were closed for several hours for the investigation, and Hamilton is currently held at the Nelson County Detention Center with a bond set at $500,000.
