Authorities Warn of Unlicensed Taxis This Holiday Season

As the festive season approaches, councils and police across various regions are intensifying efforts to ensure taxi safety amid increased travel and nightlife activity. In Darlington and County Durham, a joint operation resulted in 57 vehicles being checked, with one driver arrested for drug use and several vehicles found with safety issues. Wrexham Council has warned partygoers to only use licensed taxis, providing guidance on identifying legitimate vehicles to avoid unlicensed operators that pose safety risks. North East Lincolnshire Council echoed these warnings, emphasizing the dangers of unlicensed taxis and advising residents to be vigilant and report any incidents. The RAC has also predicted record traffic levels as millions plan to travel for Christmas, urging drivers to avoid peak travel times to reduce congestion. These combined efforts aim to protect public safety during the busy holiday period.
