Kansas Man Arrested for Vandalizing St. Patrick Catholic Church

A 23-year-old man, Michael Angel Gonzalez, has been arrested in connection with the vandalism at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wichita, where significant damage, including smashed statues and hate speech, was reported. The vandalism occurred early Saturday morning, prompting a swift investigation by local and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and ATF. Police discovered a burned American flag and messages referencing a Satanic website within the church. Gonzalez is currently held in the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of burglary, criminal desecration, and criminal damage to property, with a bond set over $500,000. Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan condemned the act, emphasizing that places of worship should be respected and safe for all. The case is set to be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for further action.
