Florida State Secures Transfer of Oklahoma RB Gavin Sawchuk

Florida State has landed former Oklahoma running back Gavin Sawchuk via the NCAA Transfer Portal, adding a dynamic and speedy ball-carrier to bolster its new run-focused offense under coordinator Gus Malzahn. Sawchuk, a former four-star recruit, led Oklahoma in rushing during the 2023 season with 744 yards and nine touchdowns but was limited by injuries in 2024. He brings experience, versatility, and proven ability, including a standout performance against FSU in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl. Sawchuk cited Florida State's early and persistent interest, as well as the program's history of developing running backs, as key factors in his decision. He joins a competitive backfield and is expected to compete for a significant role with two years of eligibility remaining.
