England Faces Amber Heat Alert as Temperatures Expected to Reach 36C

The UK is experiencing a severe heatwave with temperatures soaring up to 35-36C in southern and eastern England, prompting the Met Office to issue a rare amber health alert covering London, the East Midlands, the South East, the South West, and the East of England. This alert, extended until 6pm today, signals a potential risk to life and property and marks the second time it has been issued in two weeks. The UK Health Security Agency has also activated a five-day heat health alert due to concerns over increased deaths, especially among those aged 65 and over or with pre-existing health conditions. While the heatwave has brought sunny and scorching conditions to much of England, the northern regions are expected to see cooler temperatures with cloudier skies and some rain.
