Man in Wheelchair Killed by Two Vehicles in Jacksonville Crash

A man in his late 40s who was crossing a road in a wheelchair was fatally struck by two vehicles on Jacksonville's Southside. The crash occurred around 8:12 p.m. in the 10900 block of Old Gainesville Road, where a westbound Toyota two-door hit the man, propelling him into the eastbound lane and causing a second collision with a Toyota four-door sedan. Emergency responders transported the victim to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. This incident marks the 124th traffic fatality and the 28th pedestrian death in Duval County for the year 2025. Authorities closed the road for about an hour to investigate the crash scene.
