Gan Ching Hwee breaks record

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Singapore's Gan Ching Hwee set a new national record in the women's 1,500m freestyle with a time of 16:10.13 during her heat, although she finished ninth overall and missed qualifying for the finals by just one spot. This performance marks her Olympic debut, where she managed to overcome the pressure and noise of the event, achieving a personal best. Meanwhile, the Israeli men's 4×200m freestyle relay team made history by qualifying for the finals with a record time of 7:08.43, tying Japan for the eighth spot in the event. In contrast, China's Pan Zhanle broke the Olympic record in the men's 100 freestyle with a lead-off split of 46.92 seconds during the 4×100 freestyle relay. Gan is set to compete in the 800m freestyle and the women's 4x100m medley relay in the coming days. Other competitors like Jonathan Tan also participated, finishing fifth in the men's 100m free heats.
