Rob Atkinson Joins Portsmouth on Loan

Portsmouth has signed defender Rob Atkinson on loan from Bristol City for the remainder of the season, as they seek to bolster their squad in their battle against relegation. Atkinson, who has not played a competitive match in nearly two years due to a serious knee injury, aims to regain match fitness with this move. Bristol City technical director Brian Tinnion emphasized that the loan will provide Atkinson with valuable playing time and support his recovery. Portsmouth manager John Mousinho, who previously managed Atkinson at Oxford United, described him as a proven Championship centre-back who can contribute defensively and in ball progression. Atkinson's experience includes 66 appearances for Bristol City since joining in 2021. He is expected to be available for selection in their upcoming match against Sunderland.
