Starliner Issues Extend NASA Crew-9 Launch Delay

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams, who traveled to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard Boeing's Starliner in June, face delays in their return due to multiple issues with the spacecraft, including helium leaks and thruster malfunctions. Initially expected back after an eight-day mission, they may now remain onboard the ISS until February 2025. NASA is considering using SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule to bring the astronauts back, potentially sending Starliner back to Earth uncrewed. The situation has further tarnished Boeing's reputation, already marred by other recent failures and legal issues. A final decision on the return plan is expected by mid-August.
