Dulcy Caylor secures first spot on U.S. women's gymnastics team for 2025 World Championships in Jakarta
Seventeen-year-old Dulcy Caylor has secured an automatic spot on Team USA for the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta by winning the all-around competition at the World Team Selection Event in Crossville, Tennessee. Caylor scored a career-high 55.250, outperforming top contenders Leanne Wong and Joscelyn Roberson, and showcased consistent routines including a standout vault and floor performance. This marks Caylor's first trip to the World Championships, following a strong season that included a bronze on balance beam at the U.S. Championships and contributions to Team USA's successes at the Jesolo Trophy and Pan American Championships. The field was somewhat depleted due to injuries, with reigning U.S. Champion Hezly Rivera and U.S. Classic Champion Claire Pease withdrawing prior to the event. The remaining three members of the team and two non-traveling alternates will be decided after a second day of apparatus-specific competition. Veterans Wong and Roberson are favored to secure their spots, while other contenders, including two-time World team champion Skye Blakely, will need strong performances to make the team.
