Tropical Depression Four is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Debby as it moves from Cuba towards the Gulf of Mexico, potentially reaching hurricane strength by the time it makes landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region. Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 61 counties and activated the Florida National Guard. A hurricane watch is in effect from Indian Pass to Yankeetown, with tropical storm warnings covering much of Florida's west coast. Coastal areas, particularly Miami-Dade, face high surf and rip current risks, with Miami Beach taking preventive measures against potential flooding. The storm could bring maximum sustained winds of up to 69 mph and storm surge of up to five feet in some areas, with inland and river flooding expected across the peninsula.
