Fake Uber Driver Sexual Predator Jailed Twice in Brighton
Graham Head, a 68-year-old man who posed as a fake Uber driver to kidnap and sexually assault vulnerable women in Brighton and Hove, has been jailed for a second time after a retrial. Originally convicted in 2023, his convictions were overturned on appeal due to concerns about the judge in his first trial, but a new jury again found him guilty of kidnap, attempted rape, and assault by penetration. Head carried a 'rape kit' including latex gloves, condoms, Viagra, and a balaclava, and targeted women late at night, using a business card reading "N-UBER" to lure victims. One of his victims, a young mother, tragically died in December 2024 shortly after his initial convictions were quashed, with her mother describing the devastating impact of the crimes and her daughter's fear during the prospect of another trial. Judge Christine Laing described Head as a “sexual predator preying on vulnerable women” and a “significant risk of serious harm,” praising the bravery of his victims, including one who memorized his personalized number plate leading to his swift arrest. Despite overwhelming evidence and two trials, Head maintains his innocence but was sentenced to 23 years in prison with an additional extended licence period.
