Larry Millete's Murder Trial Postponed to January 2026

The murder trial of Larry Millete, accused of killing his wife May 'Maya' Millete who has been missing since January 2021, has been delayed until January of next year following a request from his attorney, reportedly due to health circumstances. The trial was originally scheduled to begin in July, but the judge deemed a longer delay 'excessive' while acknowledging the large volume of evidence the defense must review. Prosecutors allege that after Maya sought a divorce, Millete enlisted family members and 'spell casters' in attempts to persuade her to stay, but these efforts ceased after her disappearance. Millete has remained in jail since his arrest in October 2021 and faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted of murder, along with a felony assault weapon charge. The judge emphasized that continued delays could erode justice despite the complexity of the case. Custody of the couple's three children has been granted to Maya Millete's sister.
