Bridgewater Couple Arraigned for Stealing $18K from Homeless Man GoFundMe
Brian G. Ferreira and Rachel Kadis, a couple from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, pleaded not guilty to charges of larceny over $1,200 by false pretenses, embezzlement, and conspiracy after allegedly stealing nearly $18,000 raised through a GoFundMe campaign intended to benefit a homeless man named Greg. The campaign, titled “Support Greg’s Journey to Stability,” was launched by Kadis in March 2025, but Greg reported in June that the couple refused to provide him with any of the funds raised. Despite the community support and the funds collected, Greg did not receive the money before his death on July 1. An investigation determined that Ferreira and Kadis kept the money in a personal account without giving Greg access, leading to criminal complaints filed by Bridgewater Police. At their arraignment in Brockton District Court, Judge Michelle Fentress released the couple on personal recognizance with conditions including surrendering their passports and prohibiting them from fundraising or visiting fundraising websites. They are scheduled to appear in court again on October 9, 2025.
