Bus Accident in Pakistan Kills At Least 14

A tragic bus accident in northern Pakistan has resulted in at least 14 confirmed deaths, with reports of up to 26 fatalities, after a vehicle carrying a wedding party plunged into the icy Indus river. The bus lost control at high speed while crossing the Telchi bridge in the Diamer district, leading to 12 passengers still unaccounted for and presumed dead. Local authorities and rescue teams have recovered 16 bodies and rescued two survivors. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his condolences and urged for expedited rescue efforts for the missing, highlighting the frequency of fatal road incidents in Pakistan. The bus was en route from Astore to Chakwal when the accident occurred on November 12. Such accidents are common in the region due to poor road conditions and a lack of adherence to traffic rules.
