XPeng Unveils Kunpeng System at AI Day

XPeng has unveiled its 'Kunpeng Super Electric System', an extended-range hybrid technology aimed at overcoming infrastructure limitations in global markets. This system allows vehicles to travel over 1,400 kilometers using a combination of battery power and a combustion engine, providing a solution to range anxiety in areas with sparse charging infrastructure. Announced at XPeng's AI Day in Guangzhou, the system is part of the company's strategy to expand globally, with plans to reach 60 countries by 2025. XPeng's move aligns with industry trends, as competitors like Nio are also developing similar hybrid systems for overseas markets. While XPeng did not specify which models would incorporate this technology, the company is positioning itself to compete with other Chinese automakers such as Li Auto and Zeekr, who are also focusing on extended-range EVs.
