Taihan Secures $131M Cable Contract for South Korea Offshore Wind Farm
Taihan Cable & Solution has secured a KRW 181.6 billion (approximately $130 million) turnkey contract to design, manufacture, transport, and install over 100 kilometers of inter-array submarine cables for South Korea's largest offshore wind farm, the 532 MW Anma Offshore Wind Farm. Located off the Anma Archipelago in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, the project spans approximately 83.9 million square meters and is expected to generate around 1,400 GWh annually, powering about 1.4 million homes. Taihan will produce all cables at its newly completed Dangjin Submarine Cable Plant 1 and use its own cable-laying vessel, PALOS, Korea's only dedicated cable-laying vessel, for installation. This contract highlights Taihan's end-to-end capabilities and reinforces South Korea's domestic supply chain and technological independence in offshore wind energy. The company is also expanding with a second submarine cable plant, which will produce high-voltage HVDC and HVAC cables starting operations in 2027, further supporting future offshore projects like the West Coast Energy Highway. Taihan's prior experience includes major domestic projects such as Yeonggwang Nakwol and Southwest Offshore Wind, positioning it as a key player in Korea's offshore wind sector and enhancing its export competitiveness internationally.
