Dubai Land Department, Masdar City Enable Free Zone Companies Property Ownership

The Dubai Land Department (DLD) and Abu Dhabi's Masdar City have signed a memorandum of cooperation allowing companies operating within Masdar City's free zones to own land and properties in Dubai under the freehold ownership system. This strategic initiative aims to enhance the integration of the UAE's real estate ecosystem, diversify the investor base, and support sustainable growth aligned with Dubai's Real Estate Strategy 2033 and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. The agreement includes establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework specifying eligibility criteria, legal, and administrative procedures, while streamlining registration processes through digital systems and direct coordination between DLD and the Free Zone Authority. The move particularly benefits tech, clean energy, and innovation-driven companies in Masdar City by enabling seamless property ownership without the need for restructuring or relocating. Officials from both entities emphasized that this partnership will facilitate business expansion, attract high-quality investment, and reinforce Dubai's position as a global hub for innovation, investment, and real estate competitiveness.
