Ford Recalls 700,000 Vehicles for Fuel Leak Risk

Ford has issued a recall for nearly 700,000 vehicles in the United States, including 2021-2024 Bronco Sports, 2020-2022 Escapes, and 2019-2024 Kuga models, due to cracked fuel injectors that can cause fuel leaks and increase the risk of fire. The company has received reports of at least eight under-hood fires linked to this defect, though no injuries have been reported. Addressing the issue is expected to cost Ford about $570 million, which the automaker will record as a special item in its second-quarter financial results. Ford has stated that this expense will not affect its adjusted earnings, earnings per share, or free cash flow. The company is still evaluating the remedy options for affected vehicles.
