Gilbert to Start Game 6 for Mariners
Seattle is one win from its first American League pennant after a 6-2 comeback in Game 5, and manager Dan Wilson has named All-Star right-hander Logan Gilbert to start Sunday’s ALCS Game 6 in Toronto. Gilbert, who has a 2.45 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 11 strikeouts in 11 postseason innings, threw 34 relief pitches during the 15-inning ALDS clincher and also started Game 2 of the ALCS. Wilson praised Gilbert's poise and the pitcher said the club is focused, calling the series “nine long innings” from its goal. Facing elimination, the Blue Jays will counter with rookie Trey Yesavage at a raucous Rogers Centre. The winner will advance to face the Los Angeles Dodgers beginning Friday. First pitch for Game 6 is scheduled for 8:03 p.m. ET.
