Intuitive Surgical Promotes President Rosa CEO July 2025

Intuitive Surgical has announced that President David J. Rosa will be promoted to Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2025, succeeding current CEO Gary S. Guthart, who will transition to Executive Chair of the Board and continue to serve in a senior advisory role. This leadership change is part of a carefully planned succession strategy aimed at sustaining the company's growth and innovation in the robotic-assisted surgery sector. Rosa, who has been with Intuitive since 1996 and has held numerous leadership roles, will receive an increase in salary and stock-based compensation tied to performance and continued service. Guthart, who led the company for the past 15 years and was instrumental in product development and global expansion, will reduce his salary and forgo bonuses except for a pro-rated fiscal 2025 bonus. The Board Chair, Craig Barratt, will assume the role of lead independent director. The transition reflects confidence in Rosa's ability to drive the company's next chapter and maintain its leadership in minimally invasive care technologies.
