Singapore Airlines Invests $1B in A350 Luxury Upgrade
Singapore Airlines is making a significant investment of approximately $1 billion to retrofit its fleet of 41 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, including both long-haul and ultra-long-range models, with new first-class cabins and upgraded business class seats. The initiative aims to redefine premium travel with enhanced privacy, comfort, and modernity, as stated by CEO Goh Choon Phong. The project will introduce plush first-class suites on seven A350-900ULR planes, which will feature on the world's longest flights, including the 19-hour route between Singapore and New York. Additionally, the upgrade will include refreshed interiors for premium economy and economy classes, alongside a new in-flight entertainment system. The first of the retrofitted aircraft is expected to be operational by 2026, with the entire project scheduled for completion by 2030. This move contrasts with other airlines that are reducing first-class offerings, showcasing Singapore Airlines' commitment to maintaining its reputation for luxury travel.
