Salem man charged with bias crime, menacing family with shotgun
A 27-year-old man, Jonathan Mauris Haun, was arrested in Salem, Oregon, after allegedly menacing a Hispanic family with a shotgun while shouting racially-charged remarks. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon as the family awaited a tow truck at approximately 5 p.m. Haun has been charged with multiple offenses, including three counts of menacing, first-degree bias crime, and unlawful use of a weapon. Police seized the shotgun used in the incident, and Haun was taken to Marion County Jail for arraignment. Authorities are urging residents to report any bias-motivated incidents to help address such offenses in the community. The Salem police emphasized the importance of reporting threats to personal safety or hate speech promptly.
