Bannu bombings kill 18, wound dozens during Ramadan

A twin suicide bombing at a military base in Bannu, Pakistan, on Tuesday evening resulted in the deaths of 18 individuals, including five soldiers. The attack, carried out by a militant group linked to the Pakistani Taliban, involved two suicide bombers breaching the base's wall, followed by armed assailants engaging in gunfire with security forces. The blasts also caused the roof of a nearby mosque to collapse, killing 13 civilians, including six children, and injuring around 30 others. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack as cowardly and emphasized that such acts of violence during Ramadan deserve no mercy. Communities are observing a day of mourning, with joint funeral prayers planned for the victims. Rescue teams have been working through the rubble to recover more bodies trapped under debris.
