Kidnapping Suspect Arrested, Child Reunited in Monongalia County
Two separate kidnapping cases in West Virginia recently concluded with arrests and reunifications. Shawna Smith pleaded guilty to kidnapping, aggravated assault, and conspiracy in Greene County after holding two victims at gunpoint, and was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison; she was also involved in covering up a double murder committed by her boyfriend, Cortland Rogers, who is serving life for the murders. In a separate case, Tiffanie Dokes-Klauser was arrested in Monongalia County on a felony kidnapping warrant issued by Berkeley County authorities after being located at a truck stop with the missing child. The child was safely recovered and reunited with family with assistance from Child Protective Services. Dokes-Klauser has been charged with kidnapping, arraigned, and is being held without bond. Law enforcement agencies from multiple counties collaborated effectively to resolve both cases and ensure justice and victim safety.
