Rahmat Shah achieved a historic milestone by scoring an unbeaten 231 runs, setting the record for the highest individual score by an Afghanistan cricketer in Test history during the first Test against Zimbabwe. His performance, along with his captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, who scored 141 not out, led Afghanistan to a total of 425 for two wickets at the end of Day 3. This partnership of 361 runs not only solidified their innings after a shaky start but also broke the previous record for Afghanistan's highest Test partnership. Afghanistan's innings followed Zimbabwe's first innings score of 586, which included three centuries.
