M25 Final Closure This Weekend for Bridge Removal
This weekend marks the final closure of the M25 between Junctions 10 (Wisley) and 11 (Chertsey) from 9pm on Friday until 6am on Monday as part of a £317 million project aimed at improving safety and reducing congestion at one of the UK's busiest junctions. National Highways will demolish an old bridge that is no longer needed following recent upgrades. Drivers are advised to avoid the area unless necessary and to follow signed diversions, as previous closures have led to increased traffic and congestion. Although this is the last full weekend closure, the project is expected to continue until Spring 2026 due to delays from extreme weather. Senior project manager Jonathan Wade emphasized the importance of public cooperation and warned against complacency as traffic volumes might rise again. This closure could affect travelers heading to and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports, particularly during busy travel times.
