Severe flooding has devastated the Azuoto and Okpuitumo communities in Abakaliki Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, affecting at least 96 households and inundating farmlands worth millions of naira. Local farmer Chinyere Nworie reported that her rice, yam, and cassava farms were submerged due to continuous heavy rainfall, a recurring issue exacerbated by the proximity of the Azuoto and Ebony Rivers. Residents, including Nworie and Amauche Agbo, have called for urgent government assistance to provide relief materials for those affected. Uche Oba, Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that damage assessments are underway, acknowledging the severity of the situation as a significant concern for the state government.
